Carnaby's Black Cockatoo
The Carnaby's which are only found in Western Australia are now listed as endangered, they nest from July to December in the hollows of trees found in uncleared or remnant woodlands throughout the South West. With populations declining dramatically due to the Environmental Protection Authority, WA Planning Commission, Department of Environment and Conservation and local Governments allowing the wrong land to be cleared for development and agriculture. The last 45 years have seen a 50% decrease in the species.
Locals believe the Bells Rapids area is an important migrating path from the Wheatbelt to the Swan Coastal Plain as it is so heavily vegetated and has most of Perth's water flowing through this area.
If you want to help the endangered Carnaby's please sign our petition to STOP THIS DEVELOPMENT ABOVE BELLS RAPIDS!
